FROM ATHENS, WITH LOVE

The Greece I carry with me

I was born in Athens, but these days I live in London. Greece is no longer outside my door in quite the way it once was — and perhaps that has made me notice how much I miss the smallest things.

The smell of souvlaki on an Athens street. The first glimpse of the sea. A word that doesn't quite translate. Coffee that takes far too long. The particular light on a white wall.

This Journal is my way of keeping those things close — and sharing them with people who are there when I cannot be.

If you are in Greece, perhaps I can help you see a little more of it. And perhaps, through you, I get to be there too.

The ritual of Greek coffee

Why Greek white is never just white

The things I miss in August

Greek coffee isn't really about coffee. It's about sitting down, staying longer than you intended, and giving someone your time.

An industrial designer's eye on limewashed walls, blue shutters, old signs and the accidental beauty of everyday Greece.

Figs warm from the sun. Salt on your skin. Watermelon after lunch. The tiny things that become enormous when Greece is no longer outside your door.
