Step outside Athens Hub and you are already in a neighbourhood worth walking.

This is our local route through Alsoupoli and towards OAKA — the Athens Olympic Sports Complex and one of the most distinctive pieces of modern Athens.

Walk beneath the trees. Stop for a Greek coffee. Notice the neighbourhood changing as the Olympic structures begin to appear.

There is no tour bus waiting for you.

No flag to follow.

No timetable.

THE WALK

Start at Athens Hub.

Wander through Alsoupoli, where Athens feels residential and wonderfully ordinary.

Stop for coffee or something fresh from a neighbourhood bakery.

Continue towards OAKA and the Olympic complex.

Walk around the stadium landscape and discover the structures, open spaces and scale of the place at your own pace.

Stop when something interests you.

Stay longer when somewhere feels good.

Then make your way back — or continue into Athens.
